- Abstract : While lithium-ion batteries are the dominant technology in the energy storage market, aspects of these batteries remain a mystery. For example, better understanding of chemical and mechanical crosstalk, and transients thereof, may lead to increased cycle life and rate capability. Here, an ultrasound acoustic characterization technique is introduced to probe the electrode/electrolyte interface in operando using signal amplitude analysis. This technique gives insight into lithium-ion concentration accumulation and depletion at the electrode/electrolyte interface, and these findings are consistent with Dualfoil model simulations.
