- Abstract: A tip thin-wall hybrid-structure Fabry–Perot interferometer (THFPI) based on zero cross-sensitive, compact, and high robustness is proposed and demonstrated. The tip THFPI was fabricated by stretching and discharging simultaneously when the hollow-core fiber (HCF) and single-mode fiber (SMF) are spliced. The new preparation process and thinking are provided to FPI production. Using the method of stretching into a tapered optical fiber, the material volume of the silica cavity is reduced, which can significantly improve the sensitivity of the lateral load sensor. We exhibit the experimental results of using the Vernier effect to measure the lateral load. The lateral load sensitivity obtained by monitoring the envelope interference wavelength is 3.1 times the lateral load sensitivity obtained by tracking the dip of the high-frequency component. In addition, a parameter decoupling algorithm is proposed to achieve the precise measurement of lateral load in a variational temperature environment. The parametric decoupling algorithm can be extended to similar sensors with cross-sensitivity. The high sensitivity, high stability, and non-cross-sensitive sensors proposed in this paper have important practical application value.
