- ABSTRACT: Deltamethrin and colibacillosis are commonly encountered pesticide exposure and infection in birds. The concurrent administration of both will lead to altered rhythmicity and thus impair health and growth. In present study 230 broiler chicks at the age of 7 days were divided randomly into three group's viz., group A, B and C containing 70, 80 and 80 chicks, respectively. Birds of group B was given 1/5 th of MTD of deltamethrin and of group C was given 1/10 th of MTD of deltamethrin throughout the experiment. The group A was kept as control, i.e. no deltamethrin was given. At the age of 14 days, the birds of groups B and C were divided into two subgroups (group B into B1 and B2, group C into C1 and C2) of 40 birds each. Similarly, group A was also divided into two subgroups (A1 and A2) of 30 and 40 birds, respectively. Thereafter, each bird of subgroup A2, B2 and C2 was injected intraperitoneally 10 7 CFU Escherichia coli in 1 mL normal saline solution. On 0, 3, 11, 21 and 28th day of experiment, blood samples were collected to evaluate biochemical, serum enzyme markers activity and oxidative stress. Present study showed significant increase in AST, ALT and ALP in groups B2, C2 and A2 as compared to control. The greatest variability in the rhythmic attributes were observed in group B2 followed by C2 and A2. The study concluded a dynamic drift in normo-rhythmic pattern in the health of birds following interplaying of xenobiotics with colibacillosis.
