Abstract

ABSTRACT: Artificial intelligence (AI) is not just a simple tool to replace skilled labour but one that is equally capable of creating many other jobs in line with its development. It is even expected that there will be a surge in skilled jobs to provide support services for the new technologies. Occupations that are inimitable to AI are characterized by the development of more 'abstract' managerial skills – critical and system thinking skills – that intelligent algorithms are not yet able to understand. The growing involvement of AI in the skilled professions had led to the development of new relationships between humans and smart machines. This research sheds new light on the evolution of skilled jobs in a context where the use of artificial intelligence is fast increasing. As we will soon enter 2021, it's the combination of AI and human intelligence that will transform work and workers as we know it.
