- Abstract: Biosensors are used in a variety of applications ranging from prosthetic devices to food quality monitoring. The exploration of carbon nanomaterials for biosensing applications has involved extensive efforts by the research community due to the unique biochemical and physical properties, including optical, structural, mechanical, and thermal properties, of these materials. By virtue of these properties, materials such as graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, graphite, nitrogen-vacancy center diamonds, ultrananocrystalline diamond, glassy carbon electrode, and graphene quantum dots have been widely studied. This article provides a description of recent efforts involving the use of carbon-based materials for biosensing and related biomedical applications.
