Abstract

Abstract : The image created by Guoyan Wang and Jimin He shows the "Jet Flow" phenomenon when the UHMWPE melt is ejected from the nozzle, on the basis of which the novel non‐dense injection molding is proposed to prepare UHMWPE microporous materials with much higher efficiency than traditional powder sintering. In this method, a large number of UHMWPE Jet Flow particles produced under high‐speed injection are loosely accumulated and bonded in mold cavity to form microporous materials. The shot size, injection pressure, and injection speed have direct influences on the average pore size, porosity, pore size distribution and bulk density of microporous specimens.
