Abstract : In article number 2100379, Yuji Sasaki and co‐workers introduce a general method for fabricating functional surfaces enabling a micropattern formation of topological defects in nematic liquid crystals irrespective of the chemical structure of compounds. Area‐selective modification of surfaces using ultraviolet‐ozone treatment allows to obtain highly self‐organized microstructures with tunability, which dramatically improves the fabrication efficiency.
