Abstract

Abstract: This article responds to Myk Habets's article ' Theological Theological Interpretation of Scripture'. It begins with comment on those matters in which we are in agreement. The article, after reflecting on some dualities of practice that arise when theologians and biblical scholars attempt to work together, then examines two particular dualities in Habets's argument: hermeneutics and theology, and general and special hermeneutics. With respect to special and general hermeneutics, the article draws on the biblical wisdom tradition, and suggests an understanding of theological interpretation that is dialogic and organic in nature.
