- Abstract : The rapid growth of renewable energy generation capacity, including wind power and photovoltaic power, brings greater challenges to its accommodation. Based on the renewable energy power output characteristics, this study analyses the calculation method and optimisation model of renewable energy power accommodation ability, and explores two demand response (DR) measures, including transferable load and electric power alternative, and conducts quantitative analysis on their effects in renewable energy power accommodation. Based on the design scenario of the Northwest Power Grid in 2020, the demand‐side response measures were adopted to enhance the accommodation of renewable energy. The results show that the effectiveness of the model and the two DR measures can improve the ability of renewable energy accommodation. DR is an important direction in the accommodation of renewable energy based on the current load level.
