- Abstract:
- ABSTRACT: This article uncovers the environmental problems of automobile transport. It indicates paths for the solution of these problems and presents arguments for and objections to the conversion of automobile transportation to electric propulsion or gas as an engine fuel. It is noted that the conversion to electric propulsion is strategically more promising than the use of gas as an engine fuel. In addition, the data show that electric cars are already more economical than automobiles with internal-combustion engines, and in the last decade, electric cars have seen the beginning of a global boom. Russia should chart a course for the mass introduction of these cars and not invest huge resources to expand the use of gas engines. Gas is more efficient for generating electricity and heat. Mass production of technically superior and less expensive batteries will finally send the internal-combustion engines of automobiles to the "dustbin of history." Widespread use of electrical transport will increase energy efficiency, and this should be considered when choosing a strategy for development of the transport of the future.
