- Abstract : The stable and economic operation of microgrids always requires the participation of hybrid energy storage systems (HESSs). In order to reduce the capacity and investment cost of HESSs, the application of heat pump air‐conditioning systems (HPACSs) is a feasible solution to the problem. This study proposes a microgrid energy management strategy based on the coordination of HPACSs and HESSs. The strategy is devised to regulate the peak‐valley loads on demand side and to smooth the power fluctuation of renewable energy sources in the microgrids. Peak‐valley load difference is reduced through the heat capacity model of HPACS and battery energy storage system. Power fluctuation is allocated between HPACS and HESS by using fuzzy control theory. A simulation of a microgrid including HPACS and HESS demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
