- Abstract : EVIDENCE‐BASED ANSWER : Probably. Although pooled data including low‐ and highdose regimens of N‐acetylcysteine (NAC) in combination with a hydration protocol did not decrease risk of contrast‐induced nephropathy (SOR: B, meta‐analysis of heterogenous RCTs), doses of NAC of more than 600 mg every 12 hours decrease the risk of contrastinduced nephropathy in patients with baseline renal insufficiency (SOR: A, meta‐analysis of RCTs).
