- Abstract : EVIDENCE‐BASED ANSWER : Colonoscopy detects about 98% of large (≥10 mm) adenomas (SOR: A, meta‐analysis of cohort studies). When colonoscopy is used as the reference standard, simulated flexible sigmoidoscopy has a sensitivity for detecting any advanced colonic neoplasm throughout the colon of 70% to 86% (SOR: A, systematic review of cohort studies) and a single stool guaiac test is 50% to 65% sensitive for detecting colorectal cancer (SOR: B, small prospective cohort study with a case‐control arm).
