- Abstract : EVIDENCE‐BASED ANSWER : Induction of labor before 41 weeks does not improve outcomes in nulliparous pregnancies complicated by obesity, and increases the risk of Cesarean delivery and its associated risks, including neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission rates (SOR: B, cohort studies). Labor induction and scheduled Cesarean delivery have similar maternal and neonatal outcomes (SOR: B, cohort studies). Extreme obesity (weighing >275 lb at delivery) triples the risk of requiring Cesarean delivery (SOR: B, cohort studies).
