- Abstract : Evidence‐Based Answer : Allopurinol does not appear to reduce the number of gout attacks compared with placebo, febuxostat, or benzbromarone, in patients with gout; however, allopurinol is effective at lowering serum urate (SOR: B, meta‐analysis of lower quality RCTs).
