- Abstract : Evidence‐Based Answer : The effects are modest. In patients with chronic medication overuse headache (MOH), prednisone during withdrawal from symptomatic medication results in reduced rescue medication use in the first 5 to 6 days, but not at 2 weeks. Prednisone also decreases nonheadache withdrawal symptoms in the first 6 days, but does not decrease the number of hours per day with headache or headache frequency (SOR: B, RCTs).
