- Abstract : Prolifically inventive, since the mid-1980s Che Qianzi has been at the forefront of experimental, language-oriented poetry in China. He once remarked that throughout his writing life he has had just one basic question on his mind: How can he write differently from himself? These six poems from the mid-1990s demonstrate his mischievous playfulness, a poetry that persistently looks back at itself, its literal characters or the act of writing, to discover unexpected possibilities that can end up anywhere. (Che Qianzi's paintings and poems have also appeared in CLT Vol. 2. No. 1 [2012].)
