Abstract

Abstract : Prolifically inventive, since the mid-1980s Che Qianzi has been at the forefront of experimental, language-oriented poetry in China. He once remarked that throughout his writing life he has had just one basic question on his mind: How can he write differently from himself? These six poems from the mid-1990s demonstrate his mischievous playfulness, a poetry that persistently looks back at itself, its literal characters or the act of writing, to discover unexpected possibilities that can end up anywhere.
