- Abstract: Granite waste is generated as the by-product of the cutting and grinding process of granite stone in the granite stone industry. As the population is increasing so as industrialization is also increasing rapidly so the waste generated is large in quantity and requires large landfills for its dumping which is a very big problem in the urban areas. This waste is in the form of non-biodegradable which is hazardous and leads to environmental pollution. The natural materials utilized in concrete are non-renewable so the depletion of natural materials is the need for using some waste products in the concrete as a substitute material. The substitution of granite waste in concrete leads to sustainable and greener development. Various waste materials like fly ash, marble waste, silica fume, etc. have already been used on a large scale as substitute material in concrete. This paper shows the various studies those provide an effective solution to use the granite waste in concrete as a substitute material at a certain percentage. This study focuses on the following properties of concrete such as workability, compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength, drying shrinkage, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), permeability, water absorption, porosity, and sulphate attack. Results of the studies were compared with nominal concrete and the optimal percentage of granite waste was found.
