- Abstract: In order to study the biomechanical properties of the puffer skin, the puffer dorsal and abdominal skin was cut horizontally and lengthways. The mechanical parameters of quasi static axial tension, relaxation and creep were measured under low strain rate. Mooney-Rivlin and Zener equations were used to construct the tensile and relaxation constitutive relations of the puffer skin respectively. The correlation coefficient of fitting results is more than 99%. The results show that the biomechanical properties of puffer skin depend on its location and direction, showing typical characteristics of viscoelasticity, nonlinearity and anisotropy mechanical properties. The fracture load of puffer dorsal skin is larger than that of puffer abdominal skin, and the maximum load can reach 16.53 ± 0.770 Mpa. The breaking elongation of abdominal skin is larger than that of the puffer dorsal skin, and the maximum elongation is up to 53.994 ± 2.164%. The relaxation of the puffer abdominal skin is better than that of the dorsal skin, and the relaxation of longitudinal direction is greater than that of the cross-section, and the relaxation is about 70%. Creep characteristics of the puffer skin have a creep stress correlation. The puffer skin has obvious creep characteristics, and the creep strain rate in the stable stage has the nonlinear increases with the increase of creep strain.
