Abstract

Abstract : The request to investigate poultry health and/or production problems may arise for a number of different reasons, ranging from unexpected or unexplained bird losses to suboptimal or poor production. Such requests may present varying challenges to the attending veterinarian. This final article in a three‐part series follows descriptions of avian influenza and Newcastle disease (which were published in the September and October issues of In Practice, respectively) and seeks to integrate considerations for the clinical investigation of poultry flocks, differential diagnoses, and features that may prompt suspicion and reporting of avian notifiable disease.
