- Abstract: Gastrointestinal perforation (GI) is a common cause of acute abdomen in the emergency department that needs a prompt surgery intervention. Nowadays, CT examinations represent the method of choice to image patients with acute abdominal pain in emergency. GI perforations by foreign bodies ingested is rare and only <1% of ingested foreign bodies are believed to cause perforation of GI. MDCT is to be considered the best imaging method for identifying foreign bodies, the perforation site and the surgical treatment to be planned reliably. We presente a case of 70-year-old lady presented to our Emergency Department with acute abdominal pain.
