Abstract

Abstract : A three‐week‐old rabbit was presented with a soft swelling on the dorsal aspect of the cranium and paroxysmal episodes. Ultrasonographic examination revealed that the soft tissue swelling appeared to be a fluid‐filled structure directly connecting to the right lateral ventricle. Due to deterioration of the clinical signs, the rabbit was euthanased. Postmortem MRI was consistent with severe hydranencephaly and meningoencephalocoele. Despite the limitations of ultrasonographic evaluation of the brain and postmortem MRI, these imaging modalities provided invaluable data regarding the in situ structure of the lesion as an adjunct to postmortem histopathological examination.
