- Abstract: This work presents, study of the mechanical properties of friction stir welded SiC/Al2 O3 reinforced joints of AA1100 aluminium alloy. The goal of this research was to inspect the impact of Al2 O3 and SiC particulates on the mechanical properties of the FSW joint of the AA1100 aluminum alloy as reinforcement material with different volume proportions (2%, 3%, 4%, 5%). The findings demonstrate that the type and proportion of reinforcement play a significant role in enhancing the mechanical properties of the friction stir welded joints. The mechanical properties of strengthened friction -stir welded joints were compared with the parent material and with a welded joint without increased friction. The best results have been achieved with 2% and 3% of the reinforced particulates, respectively, of Al2 O3 and SiC. It was found that when the percentage reinforcement of Al2 O3 and SiC is increased, the ultimate tensile strength and yield strength get increased but the behaviour of material changed from ductile to brittle.
