- Abstract: The 3D printing process is mostly utilized for the creation of prototypes related to mandibular, maxillary, knee joints, tibia bone, femur bone, fibula bone, spinal cord C vertebrae posture correction oriented surgeries. The recent researches are focused to expand the application of this process to assist the treatments for other parts of the human body. In this study an attempt is made to create a patient specific bio-polymer incisor teeth by 3D printing process. The various bio polymers are selected and the compatibility tests are conducted to select the most suitable bio-polymer. Based on the pilot study the polylactic acid and polyamide 11 are chosen as suitable bio-polymers. The mechanical properties such as tensile, compression, wear and creep behaviour are tested by applying same loading conditions that simulate the real incisor teeth. The results are analyzed and the polylactic acid bio-polymer exposes relatively high strength when comparing to polyamide 11. The patient specific 3D model of the incisor teeth is prepared from the original data and processed by the Autodesk meshmixer software. The 3D file is imported to flash print software where road width, wall thickness, slicing thickness and tool path nature are decided. The sliced 3D model is then exported to flash forge fused deposition modeling machine and the incisor teeth prototype is printed successfully by using polylactic acid material.
