Abstract

Abstract : A fast detection system based on a terahertz quantum‐well photodetector (QWP) and a fast modulated terahertz quantum‐cascade laser is presented. Response waveforms and eye diagrams under different modulation frequencies are acquired. Employing the current measurement system without any high speed optimisation obtains the highest response rate of 0.5 GHz. The experiment demonstrates that the QWP is potentially useful for fast detection and high speed communication applications.
