- Abstract : This study investigates the comparative design method of a wireless power system to power sensors in an extended range when a Class E inverter is used at a certain frequency. It is known that the compatibility of the Class E inverter and the WPT system is the premise to incorporate them together. The relationship among different system parameters is discussed to ensure the soft switching of the Class E inverter. The constraints of parameter configurations are investigated by using the quality factor of the load as the criteria. A specific method of parameter configuration for classic WPT systems (E‐2CWPT and E‐3CWPT) is proposed by taking the soft switching of the Class E inverter, the overall efficiency and the charging power into account. The efficient transfer ranges for different types of WPT systems are then compared. The simulations and the experimental results show that the Class E‐3CWPT system has a more extended effective range and better transfer performances than the Class E‐2CWPT system at a certain frequency.
