Abstract

The Australasian Viral Hepatitis conference is a bi-annual meeting that brings together researchers from a diverse range of fields including clinical medicine, epidemiology, social research and basic virology research. The 6th Viral Hepatitis meeting was held in Brisbane, Australia in October 2008, and had keynote speakers including Brian Edlin from New York, speaking on HCV, Stephen Locarnini from VIDRL in Melbourne on HBV and Ching-Lung Lai from Hong Kong on hepatocellular carcinoma. The virology section included symposia on hepatitis B and model systems, and hepatitis C pathogenesis, treatment and immunity.
