Abstract

Abstract : A new single‐bit ΔΣ modulator based on multi‐bit quantisation and a successive approximation (SA) algorithm with improved output swing due to a reduced quantisation noise power is presented. Although this structure maintains the linearity of the single‐bit digital‐to‐analogue converter (DAC), it also removes the requirement for a high slew rate operational amplifier. Hence, the modulator dissipates less power.
