Abstract

Abstract : The 10 th International Conference on Polarised Neutrons for Condensed Matter Investigations (PNCMI) was organised by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and held in Sydney, Australia on 15-19 September, 2014. Sixty-two researchers, post-docs, and students from 13 regions and countries participated in the conference. A total of 41 talks and 27 posters were presented covering the latest developments in scientific research using polarised neutrons and polarised neutron instrumentation. The topics covered included: Multiferroics Strongly correlated electron systems Imaging Soft matter and biology Molecular magnetism Magnetic nano-materials Thin films and multilayers Instrumentation development Facility reports The first PNCMI was held at Dubna, Russia in 1996. It has since been held every two years in locations in Europe, Japan and the US. It was the first time for the meeting to be held in Australia. The conference's honorary chair was Dr Trevor Hicks of Monash University, who pioneered polarised neutron scattering in Australia.
