- ABSTRACT: To broaden the applications of alkyl gadolinium (Gd) compounds, a new enhanced hydrophilic soft congeries were fabricated with nonionic surfactant alcohol ethoxylate (AEO) when the micelles constructed in aqueous media. Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer was also added to the micellar solution to improve their stability. It was found that the aggregates showed high nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) contrast effect and hydrophilicity. Meanwhile, the release of gadolinium ions from the aggregates can be controlled by adjusting the solution pH, the temperature or the concentration PAMAM, respectively, suggested the great potential of the congeries as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent.
