- Abstract: We propose a simple approach to one-dimensional isotropic metamaterial (MM) perfect absorbers. This is realized by systematically controlling the losses induced by the magnetic and electric resonances in a symmetric MM structure. It is shown that once these two resonances overlap, near-unity absorption can be achieved.
