- Abstract: Ceramic Bi1-x Ndx FeO3 solid solutions in the composition range of 0.10 ≤ x ≤ 0.20 were prepared to study the structural evolution and magnetic properties. The structural analysis of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld refinement data revealed only a phase transition from the polar R3c rhombohedral to antipolar Pbam orthorhombic structures, while Raman scattering (RS) spectroscopy not only detected the phonon vibrations of the R3c and Pbam symmetries in the samples 0.10 ≤ x ≤ 0.16 but also found the phonon vibrations of the orthorhombic Pbam and Pbnm symmetries for x ≥ 0.16. The magnetic properties of these compounds revealed the weak ferromagnetism at high doping concentration. This observation indicated a crucial role of the destruction of the cycloidal spin structure for revealing the weak ferromagnetism. The magnetic aging behavior observed at room temperature confirmed the contribution of phase boundary spins to the magnetic properties.
