- Abstract: The front cover artwork is provided by the research groups of A. S. Ulrich and A.‐N Unterreiner, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany). The image illustrates the analyzed diarylethene (DAE)‐based photoswitches incorporated into a cyclic peptide with variable size. The Jablonski diagram shows possible relaxation pathways after photoexcitation with dominant triplet absorption. Concomitantly, the fluorescence intensity increases with smaller ring sizes resulting in less efficient ring closure. Read the full text of the Article at 10.1002/cptc.201900005 . Abstract : "We investigated the relaxation dynamics of photoisomerizable molecules, specifically diarylethene (DAE)‐based photoswitches, incorporated into macrocyclic peptides with variable ring sizes. A strong size‐dependent fluorescence intensity increase and drastically reduced ring closure efficiency were detected, where the smallest ring does not photoisomerize.
