- Highlights: Addition of recycled nylon fiber fabric to concrete is considered. The compressive properties of recycled nylon fiber fabric-reinforced concrete were studied. Test results are compared with those of plain and nylon fiber-reinforced concrete. Abstract: This paper discusses the physical parameters, damage performance, and compressive properties of nylon fiber-reinforced concrete (NFRC) and recycled nylon fiber fabric-reinforced concrete (NFFRC) for 30 MPa design strength in 14 days. The slump, failure mode, compressive behavior, and energy absorption capability of NFRC and NFFRC were measured, and the results were compared with those of plain concrete (PC). The slump of NFFRC was 9.30% lower than that of PC and 1.54% higher than that of NFRC. The densities of NFFRC and NFRC were almost identical but 0.61% lower than that of PC. The compressive strength and energy absorption capability of NFFRC were 5.37% and 10.74%, and 12.39% and 19.05% higher than those of PC and NFRC, respectively. After ultimate failure, the inner and external structures of the NFFRC specimens consistently broke down, but they maintained their integrity. NFFRC presents many advantages over PC and NFRC. Overall, waste NFF may replace NF in some engineering applications.
