- Abstract: Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) are engineering materials which combines two or more dissimilar materials to attain improved properties. In the present investigation, copper and Silicon Carbide (SiC) - Fly ash are used as the matrix and reinforcements phases respectively. The MMCs are produced by powder metallurgy. Two composites where prepared with Cu (95%) and SiC (5%), Cu (90%), and SiC (5%) and Fly Ash (5%) is mixed for reinforcements. By using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), the microstructural analysis is done to assess the distribution of reinforcement particulates in the copper matrix phase. Dry sliding wear characteristics was studied by pin on disc tribometer.
