- Abstract: As per the growing demand in commercial and biomedical industries, NiTi alloys secured a good position in the market. A brief explanation regarding the properties of Ni-Ti alloys and their applications has been discussed here. Ni-Ti is a smart material which can exhibit thermal induced shape memory effect at lower operational temperatures and how it is useful in the biomedical application is metioned with details. There are several biocompatibility tests needed for a bio-material to be selected as a final product in the biomedical industry. Some tests like haemocompatibility, lysis and thrombogenicity, cytotoxicity test-methyl thiazole tetrazolium (MTT) assay are the most important for the biomedical implants. All the detailed methods and procedures are explained and can help to get an idea about the selection of materials.
