- Abstract: Hybrid fiber composite provides the combined advantageous property of individual fiber to reduce the disadvantage of these fibers. These composites are widely desirable in aerospace and aircraft industries due to non-corrosive and high strength to weight ratio. Water jet machining became an alternative to conventional machining process. Composite fractures occur in layers called delamination, which is inherent and undesirable geometrical defect in abrasive water jet (AWJ) machining. In this experimental study, hybrid carbon/glass composite was processed using AWJ machining to produce hole at different parameter combinations. Influence of parameters including jet pressure, standoff distance, and traverse rate were analyzed the delamination damage at jet entry and exit. Statistical significance of parameters was explored using ANOVA analysis. A comparative assessment of holes is analyzed at each combination of the parameter. From the result, it can be noticed that proper selection of the parameter is essential for the minimum delamination at jet entry and exit of hole.
