Highlights: Develops mechanics solutions for pressure-loaded soft functionally gradient spherical capsule. Potential application in the mechanical design of soft robots and medical devices. Modeling incorporates second-order elasticity. Two material gradients can be used to tailor the displacements and the stress distribution.
