- Abstract: The mechanism of CNTs growth on iron catalyst is considered. Process occurs under conditions of low-temperature carbon monoxide disproportionation. Products of natural gas air conversion serve as a source of carbon monoxide. A highly dispersed structure of iron in the form of a chaotic accumulation of its particles is formed in terms of low-temperature reduction. The boundaries of contact of particles have the highest catalytic activity, where the nucleation of a new phase occurs in the form of ring-shaped cuffs due to emitted carbon while carbon monoxide decomposes. The optimum temperature regime for considered process lies in the range of 600–650 °C.
