- Abstract: In the present communication, indirect and direct fired single effect vapour absorption refrigeration systems are simulated using lithium bromide-water as the working fluids. First and second Law analyses have been carried out for different operating conditions. The evaporator temperature varies from 5 to 15 °C, while the condenser temperature from 25 to 35 °C in step of 5 °C. Both coefficient of performance (COP) and exergy COP are presented for different operating conditions. Peculiar results of exergy analysis have been found for the indirect and direct fired single effect vapour absorption refrigeration systems. Exergy COP of indirect fired system is around 90% higher, while the optimum generator temperature is 19% lower than the direct fired system. Additionally, effect of preheater is also analysed on the performance of the systems.
