- Abstract : We show that the diffusion distance computed from time series data in a diffusion mapping can be used to detect the critical slowdown and spatial correlations often observed in advance of critical transitions. It is found that diffusion distances are robust with respect to missing data, and are able to detect inter-channel correlations with time delays.
