- Abstract : A study of the effect of substituting dopant amounts of Ce 3+ for Na + into the self-activating oxyfluoride Na3 MoO4 F according to Na3–3 a Ce a MoO4 F (0 ≤ a ≤ 0.25) showed the optimum intensity of photoluminescent output is achieved for a = 0.05 yielding maximum excitation λex = 216 nm and emission λem = 450 nm. It was also shown that the known oxide phases Na2 WO4 and Na2 MoO4 with spinel structure readily form an isostructural solid solution with general formula Na2 Mo1- x W x O4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1). Similar to the oxyfluorides, these oxide materials also display self-activating photoluminescence with excitation λex = 200 nm and emission λem = 446.5 nm and optimum intensity of photoluminescence observed for the tungstate Na2 WO4 .
