Abstract

Abstract: Activation cross sections of the medically interesting radionuclide 45 Ti were investigated in the deuteron-induced reaction on 45 Sc. 45 Ti can be produced in a radioactive-contamination-free form in the 45 Sc(d, 2n) 45 Ti reaction below 15 MeV deuteron energy. The stacked foil activation technique and γ-ray spectrometry were used to determine the cross sections. The physical yield of 45 Ti was deduced from the measured cross sections. Highlights: Excitation functions of deuteron-induced reactions on 45 Sc up to 24 MeV were measured. Production cross sections of the medical isotope 45 Ti were determined. 44 Ti and 44m, 44g, 46 Sc are also investigated as co-produced radioactive impurities. Physical yield of 45 Ti was deduced from the measured cross sections.
