- Abstract: We present a theoretical model for the spectral properties of continuous wave ytterbium-doped fiber amplifer (YDFA) based on master oscillator power amplifer (MOPA) structure. Using the combined simulation of the power balanced equations and the nonlinear Schrödinger equations, the spectral shape can be calculated in both the oscillator stage and the amplifier stage. The predictions of the theory are in excellent quantitative agreement with the experimental results. This theory provides a useful tool for analyzing the spectral properties of the YDFA based on MOPA structure.
