- Abstract : Nuclear spin hyperpolarization is used to enhance NMR signals for observation of chemical reactions in real-time. Here, we introduce a blind saturation technique, which enables the indirect detection of otherwise unobservable reaction intermediates. Abstract : The decarboxylation reaction of phenylglyoxylic acid with hydrogen peroxide is studied by real-time hyperpolarized carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance ( 13 C NMR) spectroscopy at room temperature. A non-observable reaction intermediate is identified using blind selective saturation pulses in the expected chemical shift range, thereby revealing information on the reaction mechanism.
