Highlights: Serial block-face scanning electron microscopy (SBF-SEM) enhances thrombus imaging. This technique allows for rapid image acquisition and 3-dimensional reconstructions. SBF-SEM reveals thrombus ultrastructure with high cellular and sub-cellular detail. This technique has the potential to provide great utility to the field of thrombosis
