- Abstract: In this paper, the influences of Fe2 O3 coating on structure and magnetic performances of FeSiAl soft magnetic composites have been investigated by the combination of ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. The transformation principle of the coating also was systematically studied. An increasing Fe2 O3 coating content had positive impacts on the electrical resistivity and core loss, which led to excellent magnetic properties. The saturation magnetization eventually increased to 149.63 emu g −1 and the coercivity decreased to 7.63 Oe with the increase of Fe2 O3 . In addition, the frequency stability for effective permeability was greatly improved and the total losses were far below the original FeSiAl. The above results indicate that the fabrication method in the paper can acquire high resistivity and superior magnetic performance for the soft magnetic composites (SMCs), which is beneficial to the design of high-efficiency magnetic materials.
