Abstract

Highlights: 3D-Printing has gained attention for its customized manufacturing ability Highly efficient and effective approach, printing produces low cost medicines It has gained significant momentum in biopharmaceutical manufacturing Unparalleled potential for printing complex physiological structures and organs Health and regulatory agencies are gearing up with guidelines for its harmonized use Abstract : Pharmaceutical product development is continuously witnessing innovations for the design of new delivery systems to improve the therapeutic efficacy of drugs. 3D-printing technology has been used to design customized personalized medication to provide maximal therapeutic benefits for patients. I addition, 3D printing has also been used to manufacture drug delivery systems and biomedical devices to establish a paradigm shift in the healthcare industry. In this review, we provide an update on current progress, technological gaps, and regulatory considerations in 3D-printing technology. Teaser: 3D-printing technology has endless potential for a paradigm shift to reshape pharmaceutical and biomedical challenges associated with global healthcare.
