Abstract

Abstract: The present work consists of an experimental study of the mechanical properties of agglomerated cork in compression. Being an isotropic material, uniaxial compression tests were conducted on cubic samples of 20‐mm side. The stress‐strain curves show an almost bilinear behavior with three parameters. The Young's modulus, the elastic limit, and the tangent modulus were directly identified from the curves. The density has a remarkable influence on the mechanical behavior in such a way that its increase increases the three parameters.
