- Abstract: A convenient and excellent yield procedure for the synthesis of N ‐ tert ‐butyl Amides by Ritter reaction with nitriles and (Boc)2 O in the presence of Fe(ClO4 )3 ⋅xH2 O as a highly stable, effective and available catalyst is described. Abstract : Herein we first report the Ritter reaction using nitriles and di‐tert‐butyl dicarbonate to produce the N‐tert‐butyl Amides via the reaction of nitriles and di‐tert‐butyl dicarbonate catalyzed by Fe(ClO4 )3 ⋅xH2 O at room temperature under solvent‐free condition. The developed methodology tolerates wide range of electron donating as well as electron withdrawing functional groups and provides the respective N‐tert‐butyl amides products in good to high yields under the optimized reaction conditions.
